Borussia Dortmund have been handed a major blow in their ambitions to reinforce their backline ahead of next season, with Germany international Koch pledging his loyalty to Eintracht Frankfurt by agreeing to a new deal.

According to in Germany, Koch has signed a fresh deal with Frankfurt, which will not only see him remain at the Deutsche Bank Park until 2030, but also see his status change as the club's highest-paid player. Frankfurt had a remarkable season, which saw them finish third in the league, sealing a spot in next season's Champions League. It is believed that the club's qualification in Europe's premier club competition swayed Koch's decision towards signing a renewal, despite serious interest from Dortmund.
